Who we are

AH Dietetics is the private dietetic practice of Abby Hookey, Registered Dietitian (HCPC: DT26564). Abby Hookey is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. Contact: abby@ahdietetics.com. ICO registration: ZC211511.

What we collect and why

Booking a consultation or discovery call: your name, email address, and appointment details, collected via our booking provider (Cal.com), so we can provide the appointment you've requested (performance of a contract).

Pre-consultation form and consultations: information about your health, medications, and diet that you choose to share so Abby can provide safe, personalised dietetic care. This is special category (health) data, processed on the basis of your explicit consent and for the provision of healthcare by a regulated health professional. Clinical records are kept confidentially and retained in line with UK health record guidance.

Payments: processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.

Email: if you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and our legitimate record-keeping.

Who processes your data for us

We use trusted service providers to run this website and practice: Vercel (website hosting), Cal.com (booking), Stripe (payments), Google (website analytics, only if you agree), Anthropic (the AI model behind the assistant), and Circle (member community, if you join the membership). Each processes your data only on our instructions. Some providers process data outside the UK under recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy decisions.

Cookies and analytics

When you first visit this site we ask whether we may measure how it is used. Nothing is loaded until you answer, and declining is a single click — exactly the same as accepting. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie choices link at the bottom of every page.

Strictly necessary (always on): we store your cookie choice in your browser so we don't ask again. Our booking pages embed Cal.com, which sets its own cookies to show your available appointment times and complete a booking. These are treated as strictly necessary because they exist only to deliver the booking you actively asked for, so they sit outside the choice above.

Analytics (only if you agree): we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, how people move through the site, and which of our adverts brought someone here. That last part means Google can connect a click on one of our search adverts to a booking, so we know whether our advertising is working. We record that a booking was made — the type of appointment and its value — but never who made it. Google Analytics does not receive your name, your email address, or anything you type into the assistant.

We have deliberately switched off personalised advertising in our Google account. Your visit is not used to target adverts at you elsewhere, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically.

The AI assistant on this site

This site offers an AI assistant that answers general nutrition questions. It is software, not Abby. It composes answers from documents Abby has written and approved, and it is built to refuse anything clinical — it will not advise on doses, on starting or stopping medication, on diagnosis, or on interpreting your symptoms. Those questions are redirected to Abby or to your prescriber. Please don't type anything into it that you wouldn't be comfortable having stored, and remember it is not a substitute for medical advice.

Every exchange is recorded so we can check the assistant is behaving safely and improve it. Each record contains a random session reference that is not linked to your identity, the date and time, the message you sent and the reply you received, which version of Abby's approved documents and instructions produced that reply, which AI model was used, whether the assistant refused to answer and, where a reply was withheld by our safety filter, which filter rule was triggered, and the time at which you gave your consent for the assistant to be used. Each record also carries technical integrity information that links it to the record before it in the same conversation, so that any alteration of a stored conversation can be detected.

We do not store your name, email address or full IP address with these records — your IP address is shortened before storage so it cannot identify you. Conversations are kept for 12 months and then deleted. Messages are processed by Anthropic, which provides the underlying AI model, and are not used to train it.

Where a message reveals something about your health, we rely on your explicit consent, which we ask for before your first message.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any right, email abby@ahdietetics.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

How long we keep your data

Booking and payment records are kept for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. Clinical records are retained in line with professional guidance for health records. Enquiries that don't lead to a booking are deleted within 12 months. Website analytics data is kept for 14 months. Assistant conversations are kept for 12 months.
