About Abby
Abby Hookey is a Registered Dietitian (HCPC: DT26564) and supplementary prescriber with over 14 years' experience across NHS services, clinical research, and weight management, specialising in diabetes and obesity.
She currently leads dietetic provision for an NHS primary care diabetes service — supporting complex diabetes management and educating both patients and healthcare professionals. She has extensive hands-on experience implementing and optimising GLP-1 and dual GLP-1/GIP therapies (such as Wegovy and Mounjaro), helping people get the best results from these medications as treatment pathways evolve.
Abby's background is unusual among dietitians: alongside frontline clinical practice she has led and delivered clinical research in obesity and type 2 diabetes, including studies on diabetes remission and weight-loss interventions — work published in peer-reviewed journals.
